About Lancashire Behaviour Support Consultancy and our team
We provide compassionate, evidence-led PBS that prioritises dignity, safety, and meaningful outcomes.

Founded to make PBS practical, we combine behavioural research, data analysis, and positive psychology.
We develop strategies to help reduce any behaviours of distress individuals are experiencing, while aiming to evidence increase quality of life and wellbeing for the people you support.
Our founding purpose and values
Our company is founded on a simple but powerful belief: that people living with developmental disorders, learning disabilities and complex needs deserve support that not only is effective, but compassionate, respectful and truly person centred.
Our journey began with first hand experience of the gaps that can exist in traditional systems of care. This inspired us to create something different. At the heart of our work is a commitment to understand the whole person, and we will take our time to explore any underlying needs, prioritising quality of life, dignity and respect.
Our Specialist Team
Our team is formed of Developmental Disorder Specialists with expertise in developmental disorders, learning disabilities, and complex mental health comorbidities. We bring together senior Positive Behaviour Support practitioners with extensive applied experience across clinical, community, and forensic settings, as well as within mental health services, non-profit organisations, and care providers
Our practice is grounded in positive, psychologically informed, data-led approaches aligned with the British Psychological Society’s principles and NICE guidelines, with a strong emphasis on developmental understanding, contextual behaviour analysis, and the functional interpretation of behaviour. We do not align with outdated, rigid or compliance-based behavioural models; instead, we prioritise ethical, person-centred and developmentally sensitive practice.
Collectively, our experience spans across a variety of care settings allowing us to operate effectively across complex systems where risk, behaviour, and multi-agency involvement intersect. This ensures that the formulation is not only clinically robust but also practical and implementable in real-world service delivery.
A key strength of our team is the integration of specialist clinical expertise with expertise grounded in lived experience and real-world practice across complex systems. This strengthens formulation, enhances engagement, and ensures that behavioural understanding is informed by both clinical and experiential perspectives.

Who we work with
We work with individuals living with developmental disorders and learning disabilities, including those with complex comorbidities where formulation is multifactorial, involving interactions between emotional dysregulation, trauma-related presentations, and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
Our specialist focus is on complexity, risk, and presentation, in which behaviours of distress are underpinned by unmet psychological need, neurodevelopmental variations, and environmental factors.
We work in partnership with hospitals to help staff provide better support to people living with learning disabilities and developmental disorders, to reduce unnecessary admissions and stays in hospital.
Where we work across the UK
We currently work across the North West with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency systems where complexity, risk formulation, and behaviour analysis are central to care planning and interventions reducing the need for physical interventions.
